Yellow-spiked Mangrove Crab
Beautiful small crab found in thick mangrove habitat on a tree trunk probably guarding its eggs. Please try to find identifications and picture representations of Australian crabs. What do you think? This animal was found without even looking properly. It was found in a spot where thousands of school kids "learn" about the mangroves. Please look at what ALA offers in terms of taxonomy but also in terms of picture representations. Even GBIF has more and better information on Australian crabs. For data scientists I'd suggests to run a regression analysis on the link between publicly accessible Australian biodiversity data and the economic value of the species represented and the publicly funded taxonomists in the group. Due to an almost complete lack of Australian crab information, I named the species myself. Let me know, if you have more and better information.
