Necklace Ant
Size about 8mm. Very fast and active. It behaved more like a wasp. The size and the large eyes seems not to support this but I am pretty confident that it is located in the Sphinctomyrmex genus. They are normally much smaller. In my memory, the ant was even larger than the 8mm that I see as a minimum. Its abdomen is brighter and hairy, while the thorax is more pustulose, also shows some shoulder spikes. The five segments of its abdomen look like a necklace. Unlike in tree ants these segments are almost uniform in size. The ant was found near the ground scouting green leaves.
