Head-lined Bark Louse
This animal will be renamed and probably moved into a completely different category. It does not fit in any category properly. It could be a carnivore fly of some sort, a wasp and even a bug. It reminds a bit of a ladybird nymph. But I am really lost with this one. It could also be a bark louse of some sort. Size 3-4mm. Found on lemon tree leaf when looking for a different small species. It was relying on its small size for not being seen. It didn't move until being photographed got a bit too much for it. I am not sure if it flew away or if it fell since I simply lost it out of sight. Body looks like a fly, yellow, segmented, winged, long protruding mandibles. Mid-cephalic red/black/brown line. Various symmetrical slightly reddish-mainly black patches, followed by purely yellow belt. Hind body has very obvious pattern, black pattern segments alternating with slightly narrower bright red patches/base colouration. Wings extend body. Legs are short or reduced and it is unclear if they were clipped by a predator. Update 20/10/2016: I renamed this species from Head-lined Fly into Head-lined Bark Louse. I have not tried to get a better identification yet.
