Bark Crawling Leaf Beetle
Size about 7mm. A beautiful beetle that I found on a tree trunk, hiding under some piece of bark. When it was out and showing its face, two free roaming dogs thought it was a great idea to disturb me taking photos. The beetle then returned under the bark and did not come out again. I struggled to get an identification for this species. Therefore I assume it is not extremely common, and is probably without a species description. The beetle looks like an yellow-orange lady beetle with dark brown markings. Elytra has some longitudinal wide lines, one in the middle going into the neck triangle. The thorax has one dark dot on each side, with a tiny one touching the side. Antennae orange and long. Feet are quite special, with claws but also tarsi that look like they were thumbs. Hind legs remind of a burrowing beetle. All thighs are wide, with reddish joints.
