Big-eyed Bronze Beetle

Size 5mm. Small beetle roaming in wet decaying leaves next to a pine tree. It approached an egg laying crane fly. The beetle shows a hairless, shiny dark body. The back of the abdomen looks orange. Its eyes are very particular, extremely large and almost popping out. The animal was found at altitude next to a mountain creek.
