Black Ends Chafer

Size body about 11mm, not including thin long legs. The animal was found in our gardenia bush, neatly tucked away under a white flowering blossom. The beetle has a black head and a black derriere. The legs are long, especially the hind legs that seem to form a large L with hooks. The front leg is bulky with serrated ends. Thorax is relatively flat leading into an smaller head. Mouth parts look scary. Antennae show multifacetted ends, almost like a harmonica. I think Phyllotocus apicalis seems a pretty good match.
