Cream-dotted Leaf Beetle
I found a 100% match for this beetle from a museum collection representation. It is identified as Grammicomela quadrilineata. I flagged it in ALA as probably being wrong http://biocache.ala.org.au/occurrences/aa7b8fcd-56ac-4a7b-b31b-92cfa09a49e5). I didn't trust the identification from the start. Quadrilineata means 'four lines' and it is highly unlikely that the non millenial, non-genY or non-genX would have made such a careless description. I even think it is unlikely that it is a colour morph. I will only believe so, if I see molecular evidence. Support came from a book, Morphology and Systematics: Phytophaga, edited by Richard A.B. Leschen, Rolf G. Beutel that clearly shows a four-lined specimen under this name. I will still follow the wrong name, and list this beautiful animal under the name it is known by experts in Australia.
