Easy Rider Weevil
Size about 8mm. Have a look at this animals large front legs. When I photographed it, the front legs were spread outside and the body leaned a bit backwards as if in a defensive posture. In lack of a proper name, that silly looking posture made me chose the name Easy Rider Weevil. All that is missing is a Harley Davidson. Well, quite frankly, I am not even sure if it classifies as a weevil since its snout is extremely short. The antennae are very thin and look unusual. The closest match I could come up was Oxyops sicca, but I am sure that's not what it is. The Melaleuca Weevil has those two characteristic bumps on its dorsum. The bug was found on our lemon tree where it was trying to chew a branch in front of my eyes. The second time, I encountered it on the window next to my computer screen.
