Flower Longicorn Beetle
Size of body only 35mm (in total opposition to the 20mm stated by http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_longicorns/FlowerLongicorn.htm, accessed 22/10/2017). This beetle was found on our Lilly Pilly bush early in the morning warming up on a lower, sunny branch. This beetle is almost unmistakeable. It is shiny orange and black, probably mimicking a large wasp. The thick black, bilaterally symmetrical lines on the orange wings make this animal look like a piece of art painting.
