Net-belly Belid Weevil
Size 15mm. Found this weevil in a relatively steep, dry Eucalyp forest. It had just landed on a plant. It was moving around the twig to always avoid being seen or photographed. Taxonomically, I am confident it is a Belid Weevil in the genus Rhinotia. There seems to be some disagreement as to the proper characteristics of various similar species, Rhinotia suturalis, Rhinotia subsuteralis and also Rhinotia scalaris. My specimen certainly looks similar to http://www.bowerbird.org.au/observations/70124 (accessed 11/12/2017), but it may be a different species. The sides of the eyes are lined with a white line. A white line is also present along the ridge of the abdomen. Its wings and thorax are brown, differently textured. The belly is furry white with black net-like markings. Legs are red, as well as its long snout and antennae.
