Queen Longicorn Beetle
Size about 18mm. Found on a rotting fig in our garden in Brisbane. Finally, after more than a year of regular double-checking I found what I believe to be the correct identification. I matched the species to representations in ALA. My specimen is a bit more colourful but otherwise matches perfectly. The black cross on bright orange ground on the back of its thorax is very clear. So are the white markings on its elytra and the grey legs. There are not many records on ALA for this species, none within almost 1000km of Brisbane.
