Green Waisted Bug
Size 7mm. This bug is definitely mimicking an ant. I found this solitary specimen on a bush leaf. It moved around but never far. In terms of identification, I matched it with http://www.bowerbird.org.au/observations/93317 (accessed 17/10/2017). Quite frankly, I believe it is a misidentification, quite understandable though. The similarities are as amazing as the lack of other picture representations. I had assumed that this individual shows a nymph, based on the poorly developped wings. However, I found adult representations of other similar looking bugs with similar wings. The animal appears black or very dark. It has a hairy face, red protruding eyes. Long antennae with white band on outer segment joints. Hind legs have white tarsi. Should is white. Waist is quite narrow (a character that doesn't match), green with dark spots in the middle on top. The abdomen looks like it has black segments on top, which are continued red on the side at the front and transparent at the back. It almost looks like a wasp.
