Passionvine Hopper
How amazing is nature? How does this Planthopper know about the deterrent effect of spiders? How does it manage to make itself look like one? I seriously only realised under magnification that this is not a spider. The eyes look upwards, but the animal holds its tail so it looks like a spider face. The usually quite fancy planthopper tail forms two spider legs in a typical position and some stray tail parts look like a sort of a small, protective spider web. Update 25/10/2016: this is a very good match for Scolypopa australis or Passionvine Hopper. You can also find records under the name Fluffy-bum Hopper.
