Red-eyed Soapberry Bug
Size about 20mm. This is a relatively common bug. It has red compound eyes, and red ocelli. It has a long sucking proboscis.Legs and antennae are dark. The vernacular names don't satisfy. Some have it as Soapberry Bug, others as Red-eyed Bug. Maybe a mix would be adequate, as in Red-eyed Soapberry Bug. The Latin name Leptocoris tagalicus seems not to be explained anywhere. It could be derived from taxax meaning 'thieving'. The origin of Licus is disputed and it could be a mis-spelling of Lycus, a name from the Greek mythology.
