Apollo Butterfly
Old photo, taken in Switzerland. Funny how I got to the ID of this species. Some Swiss researcher posted a link on Twitter. It was about the entomological collection of the ETH Zuerich. The video clip showed what I immediately recognised as my mystery moth. What a coincidence and what a time safer! It turned out to be a butterfly. It is on the IUCN list of vulnerable species due to a warming climate. Its habitat is at higher altitudes (this one was found at 1400 meters above sea level). It is not the best photo, but the story makes up for it, I think. And the butterfly is a beauty if you ask me.
