Black Slug Cup Moth

Size between 11 and 20mm. This caterpillar was found on a single tree near a pond. While I could not find it on any other tree, this one was full with lots of caterpillars, mainly on lower branches. Some of them were stacked like sawfly larvae, others were on their own. I only could see the spikey cups on my photos.
