Caper White
Photographed 6/11/2016 since we had lots of them for about 2 weeks. Our native Grevillea dwarf bush was coverered in them this morning. They even made it into the national news. Interestingly, journalists - as we are used to - did not even bother identifying the species or providing a descriptive text to their picture, but elaborated on empty content. The taxon is messed up because a trinominal had to be changed into a binominal. Belonois java came into existence via Anaphaeis (java) teutonia or Anaphaeis (java) peristhene (see http://lepidoptera.butterflyhouse.com.au/pier/java.html). GBIF and the rest of the world elevated the subspecies to species level while ALA does not give the source and more research would be necessary to find out the most recent accepted taxon for this species.
