White Tussock Moth
Size of caterpillar 6mm without bristles. It was found at about 2.50metres on our olive tree. It seems to be a solitary animal since no other caterpillars were found nearby. Most obvious are the black bristle hair at the front and the back, almost forming an X. The animal has a brown and hairless head. Two body segments with orange dots all around follow the head. The whole body is covered in black hair, but in the front/middle they are white. All segments have two orange pustules on top, and within those one can see circular patterns. The back two segments, instead of the two orange pustules have one big white/beige and hairless elevation. I matched this species with http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/401616016 from Brisbane with similar host plant nearby. ALA does not specify, has two similar representations.
