Blue-green Long Legged Fly
Size about 13mm. This fly was found in different habitat, hence seems an extremely common species. Like all Long-legged Flies this species is not easy to photograph and returns many empty frames. Sometimes it works to apply the 'doctors' syringe trick' and that is how I got most of the photos shown here. Update 8/4/2017: Managed to photograph another specimen which I think fits this species quite well. I noticed firstly that Blue-greened sounds horrible and was unintentional. Before I'll rename it, I will try to get a better understanding of this group. Also, secondly, I probably need to explain that the 'doctor's syringe trick' is not injecting some chemical but pulling the trigger when the subject is distracted. I don't handle animals unless they handle me but all photos are taken in the wild with no (intentional) direct or indirect harm caused to them. Update 29/4/2017; Name changed.
