Red Abdomen Robber Fly

Size 10mm. Found on our pineapple plant. The animal was sitting head down and abdomen awkwardly pointed out. I don't think it was feeding. Maybe it was after some small spiders. It repeated the same behaviour on a different leaf. The robber fly is very small. It has a red abdomen with a bit of green shimmering at the top. Legs are long and strong, especially the hind legs. One photo shows the animal cleaning its front legs, stretching both legs forward towards its mouth.
