Slender Robber Fly
Size about 20mm. I thought this was a damselfly. It only has one set of wings and some counterwings though. I observed this animal landing on a orb spider web. It then played dead when I photographed it. Finally, it flew off, circled the spider, landed somewhere else on the web. It seemed to have no issues being caught by the web. It then sat down in dragonfly style on a small dry plant. This robber fly is - as the name says - very slender. It has a long abdomen, extremely long hind legs. The legs have black joints. The animal has big lateral compound eyes and a snout. Taxonomically, there seem to be various similar flies in the genus Leptogaster, many of them at home in Brisbane. It seems that nobody dares to identify to species level.
