White-waisted Green Long Legged Fly
Size about 10mm. Unusual that it didn't fly away showing the rapid escape response like this group normally does. It may have been still due to strong winds, or because it was exploring a good spot for laying eggs. Pretty hopeless to reliably identify Dolichopodid flies. I am pretty confident that it is different to the ones I documented before. I follow http://www.brisbaneinsects.com.au for its name. A white waist may or may not be present, is definitely not very distinct. Photos of collected museum samples show huge variations in colouration and it is probably the wings and its veins that would clarify.
