The diversity of wasps came a bit as a surprise to me when I started photographing them in 2016. Since then, they have almost become an obsession and some of my favourite taxonomic group. They tell so many amazing stories. While trying to review, revise, or refine my identifications, I came across a brilliant article on the history of Hymenoptera (https://www.researchgate.net/publication/315546907_Evolutionary_history_of_the_Hymenoptera). It is worth a read. I never fully understood how Ants, Bees and Wasps fit into the picture. The article matches taxonomy with history, and links them with highly relevant research questions with impacts for everyday life.
