Black Mantid Cicada Wasp
Size about 7mm. Found on lemon tree. Fast moving and only occasionally resting and curiously stretching towards the camera. This species is what is commonly found. It looks black and the eyes seem to pop out sideways. The front foot looks like a mantid pincher. Maybe it was coincidence that the next day came out dozens of young planthoppers out of a wasp guarded egg mass. Nature is so amazing because the animals seem to know when prey species hatch. (There was also a lacewing nymph waiting).
