German Flag Wasp
Body size about 10mm. Found in our living room, on curtain next to another wasp (Blueberry-eyed Brconid). It fell to the ground, must have been weak. It crawled onto a piece of paper where I photographed the moving subject. After a few minutes it was released into our garden. Its body colours are black, some red and some yellow-gold. That's why I named it German Flag Wasp, which I think is not very appropriate but easy to remember. Body is bulky, rather than slim, despite its small size. The yellow marking go along the edges of its head and dorsum. Wings are strongly veined and have a marking. Legs are reddish and spiked with hind legs much wider. Antennae are long. Eyes are large as usual. Update 28/11/2017: The wasp was found checking out our herb garden and finally resting on Monarda dydima out of the wind. I am still unsure about its identification.
