Saw-tooth Wasp
Size 5mm. Found on Thyme in our garden. It has large, lateral compound eyes, very neat head with small serrated mandibles. The base colour is black, matte on the thorax while the abdomen is a smooth shiny red-green. The abdomen is tapering, has a pointy ending. Legs are reddish to yellow. Its antennae have an elbow and there seem to be groove for the lower part which is often used and the rest of the antennae segments pointing forward. What a neat way to shorten the antennae.
