Woodhunting Wasp
Size 11mm. This wasp was found on fir tree logs ready for transport. The wasp has a long stinger, beautiful and long body shape, and a distinct head. Its wings have a marking and are enlarged towards the end. In magnification one can clearly see a bug crawling on the wasp. While it is unclear what the wasp was hunting for, the week prior to when the photo was taken, the - then still wet - wood was full of small stoneflies. They were all gone when the wasp was spotted.
