Brown Patterned Crab Spider
Size 5mm. Found on our grape vine. It was using a hole in the leaf to magically disappear. It is a fast moving spider. No web was observed but the species readily uses silk to overcome obstacles and swing to the desired location. It also raised its abdomen several times when it stood still for a second. It is very aware of its surroundings. This could be a different species, even placed in a different family. It best matches Xysticus bimaculatus. Two white markings on each side in the middle of the abdomen is quite distinctive. The abdomen shows some beautiful patterns. Legs are short. The front two pairs are used together like pincers. The hind legs are shorter and brighter. The overall appearance of this spider is very dark.
