Orange-legged Swift Spider
Size 15mm including legs. This spider was found in dry wood habitat in leaf litter. It was hiding for quite some time, moved fast. I got a quick safety shot when I decided to try my luck and add the extension tubes to my 100mm lens. My gamble paid out better than expected and I got an uncropped picture I could not be happier with. Ok, I felt unconfortable going so close to an unknown hunting spider that was definitely curious as to what I was doing in its territory. This species resembles the White-spotted Swift Spiders that are abundant in this area. This spider is smaller and not quite as fast. This spider also reminds of some Zodariidae (Ant hunters), with the yellow dots on its abdomen. This species looked black with a grey stripe along its thorax. Abdomen also have grey spots and lines interseeded with nicely arranged yellow dots. Legs are long, but the orange is not very distinct. They show some grey colouration, too.
