Whip Spider
Undoubtedly one of the most bizarre spiders I encountered so far. I noticed what I thought was a pine needle hanging off me on some spider silk. It started to crawl as I tried to move it. As soon as rested the animal went back into a totally flat shape where no features such as head, legs could be distinguished from what now looked like a small twig any more. I had to move it again, in order to take a picture that shows its body features. Normally, you would not see an animal even if you knew that it is there. From what I read it is quite common. Size was about 40mm. Update 25/5/2017: May 11, I noticed a whip spider climbing around on me. That was in mangrove wet habitat. It was moving around quite fast, but went into a stick or leaf posture, stretching the three pairs of legs to the front and one to the back. The front leg pair have different sizes and look having graduaded steps. Spinneret is readily visible on its stomach.
