White-spotted Swift Spider
Size total about 23mm. Large and very fast spider that I have seen quite a few times but always missed. I found it in its typical habitat, loose leaf litter. It checked me out, but when I came close hid under leaves. It was not to be found when I checked. Lucky, there was a large praying mantis showing at the same spot. When I checked on the spider a bit later, it was out in the sun again, ran when I approached, but let me take a few better shots. This is a very distinctive species. It looks all black, although the abdomen shimmers a bit green in good light. It is covered in white spots and dots all over its body. Thorax is flat, a bit smaller than abdomen. Legs are long and thick with brown endings. ALA has a typo in its name since they did not change the gender of the species, according to the very same revision document that they quote. I follow everyone else since it seems uncontested that it is Nyssus albopunctatus not albopunctata.
