Bell Miner
This bird is easier heard than seen in the eucalypt tree canopy. It's sound resembles a loud bell and can be quite disturbing and loud. This bird also scares other birds aggressively out of the clan's territory. That change in the ecosystem has further reaching consequences. The term Bell Miner Associated Dieback (BMAD) has been coined for this phenomenon. Eucalypt trees suffer and often die as an indirect result of the Bell Miner's presence. Tree damaging insects are no longer managed sufficiently by competing birds. See http://www.bmad.com.au/about.html
