Goniobranchus sp. 1
Every expert rightly points out that what is identified as Goniobranchus tinctorius is a complex of species. Often experts invent new characters, change or ignore the original description that features quite a clear picture. Studying this complex of species more closely, I claim that this is a new species until thorough genetic analysis prove otherwise. It has been found in my research area over years and shows extremely consistent characters that are distinct from what taxonomists have described so far. It co-exists with Goniobranchus tinctorius (whatever experts think it looks like). This is a common species found in branch-discriminating Queensland and might be endemic to Queensland. In many collections it is listed under various names. I have not found picture documentation from other localities.
