Unidentified an1
Extremely small nudibranch found at Fly Point, Nelson Bay. Before the dive I had asked some person with a collection permit what I should do if I happen to find a new species. His answer: tell us and we'll go and have a look. Mate, good luck! I deplore a culture of ignorance and a lack of proactive thinking in Australian branching. It is all about egos and being a hero claiming to find new species that have actually been found by others. We need a culture change where professional marine biologists face serious consequences when they are doing their own thing and try to push down colleagues and amateur branchers. Lucky, this was probably a species that might grow bigger, maybe it is even an already know species for the area. It will not be possible to determine. Posting it mainly serves the purpose of helping others to get an idea of what they might need to look out for. It helps having a mind pattern when exploring small animals under water.
